Why pay textbook companies thousands of dollars to hand teachers a canned curriculum they must adapt to their style? With programs like iBooks Author, Composer Pro, and many more, teachers can infuse traditional texts with videos, image galleries, 3-d renderings and even formative assessments right within the text! Schools can take iBook creation one step further and have students join the revolution and produce their own texts for e-publication.

iPads, Non-fiction Text, and Common Core...What else could one ask for?
Common Core Standards, increase rigor, and critical thinking are shaping the lives of our students in the 21st century.  Schools are being asked to prepare students for career and college readiness by boosting student exposure to non-fiction text.  Students often complain about how boring reading non-fiction text can be.  What happens when students use digital literacies as a learning tool for non-fiction text instead of a book, paper and pencil? A teacher went on a mission to explore what would happen.  She will share her findings as well as introduce you to the apps and lessons she incorporated into her classroom.  This workshop will be informational as well as interactive.  Bring your iPad and see what you can learn to help motivate your students to read!

Using Schoology to engage and inspire students
Are you looking for ways to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of all your students in your classroom? Schoology is a tool that makes this seemingly impossible, although noble goal, truly attainable. This session will introduce participants to the core concepts of how to: set up your classes, guide students through the steps to self-enroll, and then demonstrate how to bring your students up to speed. Once students have mastered taking a quiz, uploaded an assignment, and respectfully participated in an online discussion, your lesson plans can be designed both to fit the needs of beginner students and also challenge the needs of your advanced students. Come see successful lessons demonstrated, badges strategically employed to motivate and inspire students, and multiple rubrics that make the assessment process a breeze. This session is not only a great introduction to using Schoology for the first time but also a great source of ideas for flipping your classroom instruction and gamifying your learning environment.
