This session will describe one higher institution’s journey in updating its educational media and technology courses to provide teacher candidates the best preparation for success in their future classroom. While updating courses, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville looked carefully at new statewide requirements for teacher certification (edTPA), teacher candidates’ application of technology in micro-teaching situations (e.g. interactive whiteboard technology), and teacher candidate theoretical needs to understand 21st Century teaching and learning. This included increased credit requirements in educational media coursework, revised syllabi, and remodeled labs to meet new demands.
